Symptoms of Juvenile Diabetes; warning signs
Diabetes is a disorder of the endocrine system, it characterized by the body’s inability to use blood sugar (glucose).
Juvenile diabetes is known as diabetes type 1 - people dependent of insulin - and it known as well as diabetes mellitus; this disease can affect to anybody independent of age, sex, but more often affects people minor than 30 years old, thus it tends to develop in childhood.
Glucose is used to produce energy, the hormone insulin needs to be secreted by the pancreas - a gland of the endocrine system located in the abdomen - . A person with juvenile diabetes is unable to produce insulin; because of the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas are destroyed by the own body immune system.
If juvenile diabetes is not treated at time, it may affect many systems, organs and tissues in your body, such us:
Symptoms of juvenile diabetes
- kidney damage
- Increased infections
- damage to the eyes (diabetic retinopathy)
- Nerves of the feet, because of poor blood circulation in the legs and feet - usually to lower limb amputation –
- Increased likelihood of heart disease and stroke -
– And sexual impotence among others.
Treatment of juvenile diabetes includes closely monitoring the blood sugar levels, modifying the diet, to do more exercise and taking daily injections of insulin.
Do not forget that juvenile diabetes does not have a cure, for this reason is completely necessary that you may take a healthy life (diet, exercise), visiting doctor and taking the right medication, because is the only form to manage diabetes.
